The MISHC Coordinating Center welcomes Melissa Clark, MSN, RN, as a new co-program manager. Melissa is the new program manager of MSTCVS, succeeding Patty Theurer who retires this year.

“Melissa has been deeply involved in MISHC’s quality work for years, formerly serving as a QI Coordinator,” said Dr. Himanshu Patel, who – along with Drs. Stanley Chetcuti, P. Michael Grossman, and Raed Alnajjar – is a co-program director of MISHC. “We are excited she is now a co-program manager and look forward to her continued contributions and help guiding the team’s future efforts.”

Melissa has extensive clinical experience in cardiothoracic surgery intensive care. She earned her master’s degree in nursing informatics and has focused on data management and quality improvement throughout her career. She has worked with the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) national databases, the STS/ACC Transcatheter Valve Therapy Registry, and served on the STS Taskforce on Quality Initiatives.

“MISHC makes a real difference in the care patients receive. By sharing best practices and working toward common goals, the consortium helps reduce complications and ensures patients benefit from the best available evidence our data show,” said Melissa.

She aims to focus on teamwork and believes in the value of listening and learning from others to find the best path forward.

Dr. Alnajjar shared, “Melissa will build on the collaborative’s strong foundation to strengthen engagement and support initiatives that drive meaningful improvements in patient care.”
