Staff Spotlight - Mary Casey

MISHC’s new project manager, Mary Casey, works with members of the Coordinating Center, staff and physicians at hospitals, and other partners to manage special projects, optimize efficiency, and maintain key operational processes within the consortium.

Mary holds a Master's in Public Administration from Eastern Michigan University. She joined MISHC in the summer of 2022 and previously served as a project manager for the Blue Cross Blue Shield-funded CQI, the Obstetrics Initiative, where she focused on reducing the rate of deliveries via cesarean section. She has also held administrative roles with the Michigan Medicine Wellness Office and Health Sciences Library.

Mary looks forward to building the online platform for the new coordinator orientation and training. She’s excited about it because the project is a combination of utilizing some of her existing skills while learning a completely new system. She also looks forward to partnering with MISHC and BMC2’s extremely knowledgeable nurse leads to develop the modules and design the system.

Mary was drawn to MISHC because she enjoys solving problems within a collaborative team and she feels she is at her best when she is learning something new. “While that wasn’t in the job posting, as I went through the interview process, I got a clear message this team and this role would be a great fit for me,” Mary recalls.

Outside of work, Mary loves gardening and working on her house. She loves working with her hands and just renovated one of her bathrooms and did nearly all the work herself. She also has two young children who keep her very busy. Please join us in welcoming Mary to the team!
