MISHC Meeting Summaries for Q4 2023

The MISHC Coordinator/Abstractor Meeting was held on Friday, November 10th from 10 am – 3 pm in the Dome at Arbor Lakes, Ann Arbor. Joan Michaels, MSN, Director of Cardiac Registries at the American College of Cardiology, joined us to share TVT updates. We also heard QI project presentations, a TEER and TMVR overview, and learned about surgical valve sizes and types.
The MISHC Collaborative Meeting - combined with the Michigan Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (MSTCVS) Collaborative Meeting – was held on Saturday, November 11th, 2023 from 9 am – 12 pm at the VistaTech Center at Schoolcraft College. This meeting was our first to include unblinded MISHC data. There was a panel on guideline recommendations and controversial topics in post-TAVR antithrombotic therapy and a case review and debate. The MiCR Stakeholder Meeting was held on November 17th from 10 am – 3 pm at the Trinity Health Ann Arbor Intensive Cardiac Rehab Facility. Topics included leadership buy-in and team collaboration, cardiac rehab as a P4P value metric, 2024 CMS updates for cardiac rehab, and MiCR Toolkit feedback & future focus areas.
There was an MVC P4P Value Metric site panel discussion with presenters from Corewell Health, Henry Ford Health, Hurley Medical Center, and Michigan Medicine and breakout sessions on provider and leadership buy-in, models for patient education, and defining the role of a cardiac rehab liaison and getting started. We also had a cardiac rehab liaison manuscript overview and learned about publication opportunities.
The “New Beat” patient and provider resources, new MiCR website, and Uber Health pilot were revealed. We will share details in the weeks to come. and there were opportunities for facility tours and networking over lunch. You can view meeting photos via this slideshow.
The MiTVT2 Structural Heart Coordinator Educational Meeting was held on December 5th at 8:30 am. Dr. P. Michael Grossman presented on atrial fibrillation and TAVR. You will find a recording of his presentation on our YouTube channel.
