MISHC Meeting Summaries for Q3-Q4, 2024

The MISHC Coordinator Meeting was held at the Radisson Plaza in Kalamazoo, MI on October 18th from 10 am – 3 pm.
- Joan Michaels gave an update on the TVT registry. Her slides are available on the TVT website.
- Dr. Leung gave a presentation on balloon-expandable and self-expanding TAVR valves. The presentation is available under “General” then “Coordinator Meetings” on NextCloud.
- Alondra Dorsey gave a presentation on Leaflet Modification. You will find Alondra’s presentation under “General” then “Coordinator Meetings” on NextCloud.
- Brittany Powell from Michigan Medicine shared their calcium scoring interpretive scoring to severity documentation.

The incremental risk percentages list used in early TAVR trials was shared. Incremental risk percentages should be added to the STS mortality risk score to determine an overall risk or heart team reason for procedure for the TVT registry to determine the risk or reason as low, intermediate, high, or extreme. Appropriately documenting this risk will allow your site to meet appropriateness and represent your patient’s acuity accurately in the registry. The MISHC Coordinator/Abstractor Meeting was held on November 13th from 9 am – 10 am.
Site-specific VBR goals presented included:
- Decreasing CV/eGFR ratio >3 by Amanda Jensen, McLaren Greater Lansing
- Pre-hydration for TAVR patients by Tara Richter, Ascension Borgess
- Documenting AV Calcification Severity on the pre-procedure CT by Laura Carey, Trinity Health Ann Arbor
